1 - Welcome to The Calling blog! -
My name is Jake, just a regular guy who recently had an extraordinary and life-changing spiritual experience that changed ... everything. You may think I’m crazy after reading a few of my posts, but I hope you stick around and keep an open mind for the unbelievable tale I'm about to tell. My spiritual journey began on one fateful night in March 2023, when God revealed himself to me and called me to duty. More on that later.
To be honest, creating a faith-based blog was the last thing I ever imagined doing. In the past, I identified as a Christian and believed in God in name only. My faith was uncultivated and vague at best. I didn't believe there was a devil, I questioned the validity of the Bible (even though I hadn’t read it) and had to be dragged to church kicking and screaming. And when in church, I was irritated by those people who smiled as if they were the happiest person on Earth. I thought that they were either fooling themselves or faking it. I just didn't get it. I do now.
I know there are plenty of religious blogs and websites out there, so why read mine? What makes my story so interesting or special? I was tempted to say because it’s my story, so it's unique, but so is everybody else’s story. So, what I’ll say is this: by openly documenting and sharing my personal voyage of faith, as it unfolds, it's my sincere hope that it will provide comfort and guidance to others who may be struggling to find their way to God. But not only that, it's also for the faithful who want to hear more about how God affects people's lives in miraculous ways. If you accompany me on this journey, you’ll find out how a new Christian navigates this weird, but wonderful, and ever-evolving world he now lives in. In this new world, I now know God is walking by my side. He has my back. He’s been here all along, talking to me, but in the past, I just wasn’t listening. My heart wasn’t open. I wasn’t ready to do His work.
I'm a private person by nature, and publicly sharing details about my life makes me extremely uncomfortable. What's more, discussing religion, the Bible, and Jesus...it's all new to me. It’s really out of character, which is why I know my divine experience was real. I'm still processing what has happened (and is happening) to me. It still feels a bit weird. But one thing is for sure: I've never been happier in my life.
Thank you for stopping by. I genuinely hope you join me on my journey. I can't wait to see where it takes us.
God bless.
Can't wait to read the rest. Fascinating stuff here, Jake.
